| Her 9 month photo shoot outfit. Pics coming soon from JCPenney! |
As for everything else health and development wise, Kylie is doing wonderfully. She is eating like she is supposed to be. She has hit a lot of her milestones for this age and is talking up a storm. Well "talking," you know what I mean. ;) As first time parents, you are always glad to hear that you are doing what you are supposed to be doing and that your baby is growing and developing how she should be. Music to the ears!
Here are some of the new developments for Kylie this month...
Kylie can crawl!! Tummy off the floor, super fast, determined to get somewhere mommy doesn't want her to be kind of crawling! It is absolutely adorable. The second she figured it out, it was like she had been doing it for months. She didn't have any awkwardness to it, she just started going. After the first week of crawling, her knees were really red and were chapped. She started using her feet instead of her left knee because it hurt. We called her gimpy for a few days while her knee healed.
She enjoys following me around the ENTIRE house. Because she can now crawl, she has figured out how to roll/push the high chair in the kitchen, open the cabinets in the kitchen and bathrooms, pick at the outlet covers, and pretty much take everything off of shelves that we are determined not to have to clear off. Oh and I forgot to mention that she loves door stoppers. We already have the little white rubber parts taken off because of the choking hazard, but she loves that they boing back and forth when she touches them. And yes she does try to put them in her mouth like everything else.
Slippery floors no longer slow her down. In the beginning, she would slide backwards which was quite entertaining. She loves the shiny trashcan in the kitchen. There is no keeping her away from that trashcan! Or the fireplace! Eek... she's keeping us on our toes!
Kylie can pull up to standing. With crawling, pretty much the same day, Kylie started pulling up to standing on EVERYTHING. This includes her crib at night. We went through a week or so of having trouble getting her to go back to sleep at night on her own. She wasn't sure how to sit back down after standing, so she would just stand there and wail. :( It also didn't help that she was cutting 3 more teeth around the same time! She pulls up on her toy tables and my legs. She will crawl to me, whether I'm typing this blog or washing dishes, and tug on my pants and just stand with her head between my legs. It's quite cute actually. She has had a few tumbles and falls along the way, but is much stronger and confident now. Her first real bruise in on her forehead right now from bonking it into the edge of a door. Casey keeps reminding me that it is going to happen, but I want so badly to just shield her from any pain.
Kylie can clap. This was pretty much the same day as learning to crawl. We were at my "birthday party" at one of our families houses and one of our neices started clapping trying to get her to clap. And low and behold, Kylie started clapping right as I was about to say, "I've been trying that, but she doesn't want to clap yet.." Lol What do I know! Here's a cute video....
Kylie can feed herself snacks. We started with Rice Krispies because of her allergy, but they were difficult for her to pick up. The second Casey put out cherrios, she picked it up and put it straight in her mouth. She was definitely ready. Since then we've tried Gerber Puffs and Gerber Yogurt Melts. She loves both of those, especially the puffs. However, she will not eat them if you are preparing or show her any type of other food. If she sees you pull out a tub or jar of food from the pantry, she is focused on you and no matter what you do, her mouth will not open unless it's the food you just took out. So wierd. She has also tried shredded cheese and makes a mess, but definitely enjoys feeding herself.

Other feeding wierdness from Kylie... If you open the cabinet where the formula and cereals are, she expects to get some rice cereal. We now cannot make her cereal until we have fed her the other options of food, veggies, fruit, meat dinners otherwise the only thing she wants to eat for dinner is cereal. She gets upset when she has eated all the cereal in the bowl. We show it to her and say all gone, but she always wants more. If we didn't stop her, I don't think she would stop herself. Apparently we have a favorite food... sticky, bland cereal.
She also has stopped taking the bottle while I am away. The past 2 months, when I have subbed she has been really finicky with eating. Through January she was taking her bottles every 2 hours really well, but now you can't even get it close to her mouth. The doctor just said that her preference is mommy and not a bottle right now. If she gets hungry enough, she will eat while I'm gone, so there is apparently nothing to worry about. She also doesn't eat as much solid food while I'm gone. Not even with daddy... she is becoming a little toot! I kind of understand her preference though. I am her sole provider of food. She is used to me feeding her every meal almost every day. When Casey is home, I try really hard to get him to feed her, so it's not just me feeding her all the time. Hopefully as she gets closer to one, she starts to outgrow these tendencies.

Too cute! Can't believe these girls have been here as long as we were pregnant. :( It's going by way too fast.
I love that blue butterfly shirt on Kylie! I think that is her color!
