Kylie is 10 Months Old!!

It is hard to believe that in less than 2 months our baby girl will be a one year old. It amazes me how fast she grows and how much she learns in such a little time.

There are many quirky things that make Kylie, Kylie.
  • She has always been a kicker. Since she was in my tummy, she would jab at me left and right or just stick her foot out and hold it there so you could see the indention on my belly. As she has grown up, she is still a kicker. When you pick her up or she gets excited, her legs start going. Fast little jabs of the entire leg. It almost seems like she uses her legs more than her hands when playing sometimes. She loves to kick toys out of the way, before this was a nuisance, but now that she can crawl it's not a problem at all. We joke that she will either be a dancer or soccer player when she grows up!
  • She loves to take toys out of the toy basket. It's unclear whether she is looking for a specific toy, is indecisive, or just likes to dump it all out. Here's a picture... guess where Kylie was!?! Haha.
  • Poor baby has been getting teeth nonstop since 5 and a half months. So she has learned that it feels better to bite on anything and everything. One of her newest things is to bite on something, hold in her mouth (no hands!), and continue playing or crawling. I think it is adorable. There are so many pictures of this, it was hard to decide.
  •  Silly faces, silly faces... Kylie loves to laugh and make you laugh. Sometimes when she gets excited, she sticks out her tongue to the side. It's hilarious. She also will scrunch her nose and blow in and out of it. If you do it, she will copy you. She also loves to play fake laugh, back and forth. It's a super fun game to play, especially if you want to make her happy.
  • Singing. If you start singing or there is a song on the tv or something, Kylie starts singing. She just holds a note/sound much longer than when she's just "talking."
  • She LOVES pillows. She would be so happy with just a couple of pillows to play with. She hugs them and lays her head on them. She has also started laying her head on any kind of stuffed animal, lke her little baby that makes her smile whenever she sees her.
  • Kylie does NOT like grass. We even tried the softer St. Augustine kind, not so much! This picture was from Mother's Day.

Other Kylie 10 Month Updates:

Kylie is such a good crawler now and prefers to crawl over practicing walking. I don't blame her, she is super fast. She loves to be chased and has a blast chasing you too. On occasion, she will let go of what she's holding on and just stand, but as soon as she realizes it, she sits down. She'll get the hang of it eventually. On that note, she has been cruising around furniture really well lately.

Kylie waves bye-bye, mostly with her right hand, but she is starting to understand it. She does it when we say hi too.

She says mama and dada to us. Lately, which makes me feel good because she started with dada, she's calling me more. If one of us says 'where's dada or mama' she goes looking for us and generally finds us, if she doesn't get distracted by something else first. Haha. She also likes to play hide and seek, of course she likes to be the hider. Her normal hideout is behind the recliner.

We went through a bout of gagging and vomiting of solid food. Kylie has a hyper sensitive gag reflex, sadly like her mommy. It took me forever to learn how to swallow pills and I still have trouble. We began trying to feed her the chunkier 3rd foods, most of them have chunks of carrots in them. She would get a piece on her tongue and would begin gagging, followed by throwing up whatever food she ate previously. :( It was not fun. We have been practicing with puffs and cherrios, I gave her little pieces of whole wheat bagels, and just this past week she ate halves of macaroni and cheese! She just needs more practice. It definitely keeps us on our toes, just last night she ate a pea and kept chewing if for awhile and then she started gagging on the leftover skin of the pea that was in her mouth. Luckily she swallowed it before anything else happened. She is getting better and hopefully around 1 year she'll be able to eat more table food.

Kylie is such a happy baby. She gets fussy around nap time and when she's starving, but that's typical baby stuff. It is so special to see her face and her reaction when Daddy comes home from work. She's also starting to recognize more people, besides the 2 of us. I cannot wait until she knows her family. They love her so much, but she doesn't always go willingly to them.

Here are some of her pictures from our 10 month photo shoot!!

The first and best picture of the day!

Checking out the grass.

The beginning of being spooked by the grass.
