Let's see, Kylie is about 16 and a half pounds and 26.5 inches long. She is sitting up really well now and rarely falls over, unless she gets really excited about something and lunges for it. She still thinks she's crawling when she "flies." (This is when she is on her tummy and her arms fly backwards and her legs kick the ground like crazy!) That's how you can tell she's really trying to crawl. Haha! When she focuses really hard, she can lift up on her knees when she's on her tummy. She can't quite get both the front and the back working at the same time.
Solid foods are going great for Kylie. She pretty much will eat anything we put in front of her. She may not eat every vegetable or fruit with the same gusto as apples or green beans, but she'll eat it eventually. We did try giving her oatmeal for the first time and she had an allergic reaction to it. She got hives/welts on her torso front and back. Poor baby, but it was gone by the next morning. The pediatrician asked us not to introduce it again until she turns 1. :( I hope she isn't allergic to oats or much worse wheat! So we're sticking to rice cereal for now.
The main change for our 7 month old is that she is obsessed with details. She will find the smallest thing and focus on it. She must touch it. And she must scratch it with her pointer finger. It's so funny to watch her 'feel' everything now. Anything with some kind of texture, whether it's a smooth plastic book or the newly found carpet, she loves touching with her fingers. She also has become very fond of her head shadow. She sees it underneath her and then tries to eat it. Quite hilarious.
Kylie loves to read books. If you watch her, you can see her eyes moving back and forth from page to page while you're reading to her. (Obviously, as a teacher, I'm happy to see this!) When you're reading, she looks up at you randomly and touches your face just to let you know she likes it. One of the sweetest moments we've been sharing lately.
Noises. Kylie loves to make noises. The latest is her breathing in, almost a wheezing sound. It startled us at first, since not too long ago we were listening for that very sound when she was sick. She is doing it on purpose and smiles and laughs. She thinks it's the funniest thing! This past week she has been enjoying spit bubbles again as well. This time, however, she will go on for 5, 10, even 20 minutes of just blowing spit bubbles. She will be sopping wet, but she's happy as can be. We joke that she's saying 'uh oh,' but it's just a coincidence with the sounds she's able to produce now. ;)
It snowed for Kylie's 7 month birthday, so we had to take her out to see how she would react. She was happy to be outside, but it was about 20 degrees and well very cold. She was bundled and could barely move, so she didn't really do much out there. She kept looking at the snow, inquisitively, wondering what it was. It was hard to get pictures because all she wanted to do was look at everything around her.
