8 Months Old!

I thought last month went by fast...

Kylie is 8 months old now. She is 2/3's of a year old. Pretty crazy, I know. Kylie is almost 17 and a half pounds and somewhere around 27 inches long... difficult to measure a wiggle worm. ;)

Let me start with some of the things that have stayed the same....

Kylie likes to eat. She still nurses 6 times a day, about every 2 hours. She can go longer, but prefers to stick to this schedule. Loves loves loves breakfast. Well and lunch and dinner.... She is a big fan of her rice cereal at breakfast. And now has tried barley cereal and since has had NO allergic reactions to it! Next we'll try wheat, and then back to oatmeal in hopes of no allergic reactions to it again. She has been eating a lot more this past week, so a growth spurt may be occurring as we speak! Or she may like food more because she is cutting a new tooth....finally, but that is another story. She will eat whatever you give her. Lucky for us, she has been a great eater! Keep it up girly!

Being silly after lunch one day.

Kylie LOVES her pacifier.  Yes, Kylie is one of those kids. Generally we only give it to her for nap time. But if we are out and about and she gets fussy or tired, we don't hold it back from her. She probably only sucks on it for maybe 15% of the time anyways, the rest of the time is spent biting on it, so I don't know if that really counts. ;) She also sucks/bites on the little 'leash' that clips it to her shirt. It will get sopping wet, so that you could easily squeeze liquid out of it. Pretty gross, but it keeps her pacifier from going on the ground and getting dirty, so we deal.

Kylie loves her toys. She still loves her toys. She isn't the biggest fan of her play mat or exersaucer anymore, but will still play with them on occasion. The newest thing that she loves is making her way over to the basket of toys and taking them out one by one until there is a huge mess all around her. See below... Other than that, any toy that remotely fits in her mouth will be slobbered on and bitten, and any toy that won't fit will still be slobbered on.

Kylie loves to read. She can be as fussy as can be and the second you start reading to her, she calms down. It is so sweet. She turns the page for you now knowing that there are more pages to a book. Her favorite book is by far still Mr. Brown Can Moo, Can You?. I'm working on a video of reading time to post soon. Kind of hard to video yourself reading a book to your child. ;)

.....Some things that have changed this month.....

Kylie sits in grocery carts and high chairs at restaurants! Let me tell you... it is SOOOO much easier now. Lugging that baby carrier around was getting difficult and luckily for me she really likes being able to look around. There is now more room in the cart and she can be more entertained while I'm trying to get some things done. So exciting!

First time in a high chair at McAlisters! And yes she did try to bite the table....

At Kroger, just chillin and playin with her toys!

Kylie is officially TRYING to crawl. She is well behind her cohorts in this area. Poor baby has dealt with reflux and spitting up her whole 8 months of a life, making tummy time difficult. Her spitting up has been a lot better this month, so some of her skills have picked up. She rolls around a lot more now and uses her toes to push just enough to get to something that she wants. When she's sitting, she rocks until she lunges forward and then just lands on her tummy only to flail her arms and legs once again. ;) She has been working more on lifting her lower back, so it's only a matter of time...

I.. must...get..that... toy......

New tooth.. Finally!! Kylie decided to wait until Daddy was out of town again before she cut her newest tooth. Yes Casey is out of town for work this week and Kylie is cutting her 3rd tooth. It is her top left front tooth. She is a little fussy during the day and sometimes just wants me to hold her, but mostly she is handling this one much better than her first two. We'll see if it keeps up as the tooth cuts through more in the coming week. I'm a little nervous about nursing a baby with top teeth. There is no tongue to act as a barrier for them, so ya I'm a little nervous. She has bitten me before, but it was only with bottom teeth. Two sets of teeth scares me!

Kylie sleeps on her tummy now. Over the past couple of weeks, Kylie has been rolling around/army crawling all over her crib. I guess she has been practicing her new skills realizing that she can do them in her crib too. I don't know why she is just now realizing this, but oh well. She would roll over onto her tummy at night and then not really know how to fall back asleep this way. It took her about a week to figure it out and now absolutely LOVES sleeping on her tummy. She puts her hands underneath her belly and sticks her bottom up in the air. It really is the cutest thing!

Kylie's hair has grown in! You'll notice in some of the pictures below that her hair has definitely grown. It is much longer, fuller, and coming in a dirty blond. It is beautiful. She also has curls in the back.. just like her Mommy and Daddy!

I'll end with some of our 8 month photo shoot pictures. It is getting harder and harder to get good pictures of her! She just wants to move around all over the place instead of smile at me, no matter if I'm doing back flips or not! So here are some of the best ones....

She looks like such a big girl in this one. She's not that stable standing without help especially because she doesn't realize that going for a toy means she will fall and more than likely bonk her head.
