Kylie is now 18 months old and it just keeps flying by. We keep hitting major milestones and dates, and then more come. We are fascinated by her every day and thank God for the joy she has brought to our lives. The older she gets, the more I see how much of a gift she is to us.
Life gets pretty busy when you have a toddler. Parenting wise, you really have to sit down and discuss how you're going to discipline and what actions you are going to take when she acts a certain way. There are so many minute things that go into raising, or should I say trying to raise, a respectful, loving, caring human being. That's what she is now, a human being. It is absolutely amazing how much of a little person she is. She is so impressionable and soaks up everything around her, that we really have to watch ourselves and her surroundings.
With the busyness of life, we have not done the greatest job of taking pictures the way we used to. She's so active and rarely stops to let us take a picture. Most of the time, I'll get her to look at me and the second I take a picture she turns and the picture turns out blurry where her head just moved a mile a minute. Hence, most of my pictures as of late have been from my handy i-phone! Oh well, they're still pictures. I'm rambling, so let's get to Kylie. Kylie, Kylie, Kylie...
Let's start out with a video. Kylie's favorite game these days. Jumping when mommy says one, two, three!
I wish I would have taken a picture of Kylie at her 18 month appointment. She was fabulous. Of all her doctor's appointments, this was by far the best one yet. We did not have to hold her, give her the pacifier, or console her after it was all set and done. What was our trick you ask? Her doctor's kit. Yep, she got a little medicine kit for Christmas (which she loves). We practiced a lot before her appointment at home putting the stethoscope on her chest and back. She would always lift up her shirt, so funny. So when we got to the doctor's office, we continued to play with it and 'practice.' The doctor used her play stuff while she used her real stuff and Kylie loved it. It also helps that we have an awesome pediatrician! Everything looked great at her check up and the doctor said that we are doing great!
Kylie is very expressive nonverbally. Her facial expressions are insane. I mean her eyebrows can tell you like 16 different things in like 5 seconds. She is learning new words everyday and while it is frustrating that she will learn one one day and then not use it the next, we know that she is learning and on the right path. Kylie's right smack dab in the middle when it comes to actually speaking words, but understands almost everything you say or ask her. Her favorite words right now are apple, uh oh, ice, and Hi. Silly girl can't handle if things are out of place. She will say 'uh oh' until it is fixed and genuinely is worried about said object.
Another of her favorite things to do is to change diapers. She started off with putting on and changing her puppy's diaper and then we graduated to changing the babies diaper when mommy brought out a much smaller diaper to play with. She even opens the diaper and says "ooo" and then wipes the baby. Then replaces the diaper. Probably the cutest thing ever. She now holds her nose to say that it is a stinky diaper.
Kylie loves to go get and 'open' the mail with Daddy. We pretty much give her full reign on the junk mail and she absolutely loves it. It's a mess, but keeps her happy while we check the mail.. (which doesn't happen very often, so it's normally a LOT of mail to go through.)
| Originally I was just trying to take a picture of her outfit to send to my mom. Love this jean dress! |
| Kylie in the big kid seat at Home Depot. We noticed later that it said for 2 years and up.. oh well, she did really well. |
Kylie loves to play in our little playground at church. We don't have any young kids play equipment at home and parks normally don't have these, so it's the perfect place for her to play. Here she is going down the slide by herself!
Recently Casey and I brought out the Wii.. it's been awhile. Kylie loves music and she would tell us yes or no to the songs for us to play. After watching Mommy sing a ton of songs, Kylie wanted to give it a try.
Kylie, we love you to pieces. And now that I'm finally getting this post done, YOU ARE 19 MONTHS OLD! Such a bad mom.... or maybe good because I'm not spending a ton of time on the computer and spending it with YOU! Yeah, good mom, right?!

Yes, Miss Kylie's facial expressions are hillarious...you will never not know what she is thinking! By the way, the videos say "private" and won't play when you try to click them.
Thanks Erin. They were showing up on my computer, but not on my phone. I thought it was just another weird i-phone thing. I changed it in you tube, so they should work now. :)
