This summer has been quite eventful with both the girl's birthdays, our trip to Chicago, lots of play dates, and our family weekends that we try to cherish in every way we can, even just the trips to the mailbox!
The girls are growing like weeds and Emily is really starting to look and act like a little girl. She sees her big sister and believes that she can and will do the same. Here are some photo memories so far this summer!
Chicago: End of June
We flew with Casey to Chicago to see where he was working and had a wonderful time exploring the area! I LOVE it there. Casey said I would feel the opposite if we came in the Winter, but I think I'd still like it.
Our flight delay was pretty annoying, but the girls handled it like champs!

| Buckle Up!! |
 |
| A sweet passenger asked if we wanted our picture taken. Of course! |
From my day trips with the girls. We went to the park, drove around by the beach while Emmy napped, went to a working Farm from the 20's. Lovely day.
 |
| Roarrrrr! Great Natural History Museum: The Field Museum. |
 |
| John Hancock Observatory |
Navy Pier on a super windy day. I would have loved to have more time here. After we walked the pier, we WALKED to Millennium Park. It took forever. Thankfully we found a bus to take us back to the pier. We were tired and the girls pretty much passed out as soon as we got in the car. We went back to the hotel to get prepared for the girls first trip to the beach! Lake beach, but beach nonetheless!
 |
| They did not want to leave, but it was so windy and cold! We picked a terrible time to go, just so happy that we got to experience it with the girls. |
 |
The flight home was pretty good.Thank you iPad and snacks. Emily was exhausted and finally fell asleep. Kylie's ears started hurting from her cold as we were descending and also decided AS we were landing to take off her seatbelt because she wanted to look out the window. Eek!
|
LOVED this trip and would do it again in a heartbeat.
Play Dates
|
|
Bell Choir at church. Kylie half the time would just ring her bell constantly and part of the time would dance to the music. Love her.
|
The park by us has a splash pad and cute little playground. Can't stay out too long; it's HOT!
 |
| Sweet girls sharing the stroller at the mall while running errands and eating lunch! |
Kylie's 3rd Birthday
Kylie turned 3 at the beginning of July. She had a Princess Party and she LOVED it. She loved her friends coming over to her house. Little did we know, but Kylie had some viral bug that weekend, but thankfully she didn't pass it on to any of our friends or family. (Actually Kylie caught a cold in Chicago, then gave it to her sister. Then Emily caught a viral tummy bug, and returned the favor to Kylie! All within a week!)
 |
| Loved her Belle cake. Ate off of it for a few days.. |
Emily's 1st Birthday
We celebrated Emily's first birthday on her real birthday! It was a barnyard party and Mommy loved planning this one! I just love planning parties in general, but this one was adorable.
Weekends with Daddy
We love having daddy to ourselves on the weekend, even though usually there's yard work to do. What has been adorable to watch is Emily's affection to him. She used to be and really still is a Mama's girl, but she now runs to him when he comes home and fusses if he leaves her. So sweet. Kylie of course is and always will be a Daddy's girl. No question.
Wendy's dinner date with Daddy and he caught a gecko!

Family Visits
We got to see my side of the family every two weeks for a month! They came up for both the girl's birthdays and we had family from Pittsburgh come to visit, so the family came up then too! Coupled with Father's Day swimming and other family parties, this was such a fun summer.

Left: Kylie was supposed to be reading quietly. I came out after putting Emmy to bed and she said she was having a picnic with her friends. Right: Kylie set up her room like a puppet show at the library.
